Family Life Center Service Details

Greetings to All Our Greater New Guide Members and Visitors:

First, I thank you for your continued support and patience as we make the transition in pastoral leadership. Transition always presents challenges, but God is able to guide us through all.

My task is to provide more details related to relocating all church services and activities to our Family Life Center.  Our dedicated board officers, key leadership members and I would like to inform you of the following:

Beginning Sunday, September 15th, all church services will be held at the Greater Guide Family Life Center (3328 Adams Avenue, B.R., LA 70802 - The corner of North Acadian & Adams Ave.)

This means that Worship, Sunday School, Bible Study, Ministry Meetings, and all related activities will take place at the Family Life Center.

If you recall, the church membership agreed to make all necessary repairs to the Family Life Center (FLC) in order to begin repairing and updating our main church campus. The time has come for us to take said action.

At this point, we are only making repairs to items that can cause greater damage and become more costly to repair our main campus. We will not renovate and update our sanctuary or any other areas until a pastor is installed.

A timeline to complete these repairs can not be determined because we do not know the severity of the identified issues. For example, walls need to be torn out and the roof needs to be thoroughly inspected to determine the severity of the issues.

We are aware of the FLC safety concerns expressed by Bro. Welsh (Retired Fireman). First and foremost, the FLC is in the same safety and usage condition it was for the past 15 years. A new safety issue has not developed. Bro. Welsh highlighted some things to help us enhance our safety. We plan to implement these additional safety measures expeditiously.

For example:

  • The entire front parking area will be designated as a fire lane
  • Interior double doors will be open during services to facilitate a faster exit
  • Additional exit signs will be posted in key areas.
  • Members will be educated on where to exit the building in the event of a fire and fire drills will be implemented.

There are classrooms with one way in and one way out that raised some concern. Nevertheless, we have certified fire sprinklers in every room and certified fire extinguishers strategically located through the FLC. These fire systems are routinely inspected according to state fire system regulations. Greater New Guide is not required to implement any other fire safety interventions at this time. Bro. Welsh is partnering with us in facilitating the highest level of fire safety.

Parking:

  • Members can park at the FLC until the parking lot reaches capacity.
  • Additional handicap parking will be available adjacent to the FLC on the west side (across from the convenient store) and in the front of the FLC.
  • Additional parking for everyone is available on the main campus west parking lot.  lot (corner of North Acadian and Fairfields Ave.)
  • A shuttle bus is available to transport individuals to and from the FLC. Security officers may be present to escort individuals who desire to walk across the street. However, utilizing the shuttle bus may be safer.

Entrances to the FLC are available in the rear and front of the FLC. Certain doors will be designated for entrance.  But all doors can be exited.

There is a baptism scheduled for 4th Sunday. Bro. Philip Young will be baptized after worship in the sanctuary. Bro. Philip’s family and church members are encouraged to join us at the church for this special occasion.

Additionally, Bro. Frank Mims funeral may be next week. Since repairs will not be totally underway, it was decided to conduct these two services in the sanctuary. Thereafter, services will not be conducted on the main campus. We will inform you of how future baptisms will be conducted.

FYI. The Church Office will remain at the main campus until further notice. The rest of the church building will be off limits.

Once again, I thank you for your understanding, patience, cooperation and prayers as we navigate through this change. We will continue to evaluate our events and activities and make necessary adjustments along the way.

Just a friendly reminder:

  • Sunday School: 9:00am
  • Worship: 10:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday Bible Study: 6:00pm
  • Thursday Bible Study: 10:00 a.m.

I leave you with the words of Apostle Paul;

Rejoice evermore, Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

May God’s grace be with us all!
